LURACH

Lurach are four superb musicians who explore Gaelic & Scots song traditions and perform tunes gathered in both Scotland & Ireland. They have built on their Danny Award success at Celtic Connections, performing at clubs and festivals across Scotland and hugely impressed the Falkirk audience at our Tryst Festival in 2011. The result is vibrant, distinctive music; “a sparkling mix” of fiddle, dual flutes, tenor banjo, whistle and song.

The music of Rachel Newton and Lillias Kinsman-Blake draws on influences from the Highlands of Scotland to the Borders and beyond, incorporating both Gaelic and English songs with traditional and contemporary melodies. As members of popular folk band The Shee, they are taking the opportunity on this tour to perform as a duo, launching their debut album 'Dear Someone' on Fellside Recordings. A delight to be welcoming them to the intimate atmosphere at Falkirk.

Fiona Lander and Paul Mason collectively known as 'Landermason' have been writing, recording and performing together since 2000. Multi instrumentalist Fiona (vocals, piano, whistles, saxes, clarinet and recorder) and Paul (guitars and vocals) have developed a unique sound which displays their undoubted talents. They combine both traditional and contemporary folk with jazz and other styles in their beautiful and striking arrangements.
