Falkirk Folk Club
Song-writing Competition
15th May 2008
The Competition
Falkirk Folk Club are hosting their fourth annual song writing competition in an effort to encourage live music in the Falkirk area. Although we are a folk club, the competition will not be restricted to folk music. We are aiming to promote all forms of acoustic music. There will be prize money available for the first, second and third placed songs and a trophy, provided by R.A. Music, for the winner. The actual amount will be based on the money taken at the door on the night. We have invited judges from the world of folk music and the local community.
All entrants and audience members will pay £5.00 to get in on the night.
The Venue
The competition will take place downstairs in the Polish Club, 24 Arnott Street, Falkirk. The room has a stage where the all songs will be performed. We will start at 8.30pm prompt, aiming to have all the performances complete for 10.20pm. There will be two fifteen minute breaks during the competition followed by a twenty minute break at the end to allow the judges to make their decisions. At 10.40pm, the winners will be announced and the first place winner will have the opportunity to perform the winning song again.
We will have a P.A. system available with 3 microphone inputs and 3 instrument inputs. Instruments should be provided by the performer.
